Just an edit of us snowboarding up at app. I’ve been saving the good shots for the edit after the trip to NYC/Montreal/Mont Tremblant this weekend.
Here’s what came of the scrap board. I tested the fiber glassing process with the old makeshift fiber glassing supplies. Now, to begin testing with the retail peel plies and bleeder. I have two test squares with each setup in the Vac press as I’m typing this to see the different qualities the two different peel plies provide. The next layup is going to be a light, soft version of the super-stiff FR Double drop board i’m making for my buddy who’s about 115 lbs. I’ll post with pictures of that board ASAP.
I figured I’d go ahead and post a pic of the vac bag and the press we have set up. That FR board is a balticbirch-maple build that’s going to get 2-3 layers of 19oz triax glass. I’m gonna check out the feel of this layup and see how I like it. The next board to come out of the press tomorrow is going to be 19oz triax-maple-BB-maple-BB-maple-19oz triax glass. Gonna test the feel of both boards and post the results. I’m currently riding a similar shape, without the drop, 19oz glass-BB-BB-19oz glass-19oz glass. It’s got a real good flex to it for those who like a softer board. I’ll post pics of it with the board that’s in the bag right now tomorrow evening.

Got a couple boards pressed and waiting for glass. I’m waiting on a shipment for fiberglass supplies for now, however i’m going to pick up wood tomorrow in huntersville. Gonna press out 5-7 new boards so that i’m ready for the fiberglass. After that i’m working on designing the mold for Ryan Conway’s ‘pro model’ that has yet to be named. Get excited for a sick DK freestyle board! Also, pictured above is a little pump-board dancer that we slapped together for Toryn Little. threw a deep stain on it and it’s ready for griptape and some wheels.
Just an idea I had to make cutting the boards out easier than using a jigsaw and clamping it to a table. Thanks to Richard Stern for stopping by the shop all day and giving a hand with this and the first layup
So the other day we spent the entire afternoon out getting supplies and tools (including a brand new air compressor), only to come home to the power being out. So naturally, we went to the bar right next door to wait it out. A night of drinking and 5 hours later, it’s 4 a.m. and the power returns. So after a quick round of omelettes, we decide it’s the optimal time to do this layup, so that it’s ready for us when we wake up. Here are some pictures. We did decided it was best to try it on a scrap board before we use one of the good ones. Here is what we came up with:
Just a timelapse of me cleaning up the shop. an edit of the first layup is coming soon
